Speech Pathologist
Carly has been the speech pathologist at Kyrene
Middle School for the past three years. Her
colleagues nominated her because of her terrific
abilities to make great lessons for students and
getting the staff involved in activities for
students. Prior to her current position Carly
worked in a special education preschool classroom.
Carly is involved in many KMS and Kyrene District
programs. This list includes the Autism Training
Team, KMS Scorpion Cheer Squad coach, Student
Council Advisor, and member of the Kyrene School
District Professional Growth Committee. Carly also
serves as the mentor for all new speech pathologists
in her district.

6th Grade Resource
Ms Rohan is a very inspirational and creative
teacher, she specializes in helping her students
become successful learners. Her nominators said "
Colleen embraces challenges and turns them into
successes." Colleen has worked with special needs
children for the past 15 years. She began her
illustrious teaching career in the city of Chicago.
At Kyrene Middle School she is the Mentor for
special education teachers.

Gloria
Grant
Tsaile Elementary School
Chinle Unified School District
Principal
Gloria has been in education for
nearly 25 years. Her experience and first love
was being an Art teacher at the secondary level.
She started the Fine Arts and Academic Showcase
for Chinle School District .The "showcase" is
now in its 19th year. Ms. Grant's experiences
have shown her maintaining ones language and
culture is key in helping young people believe
in self worth and developing positive
self-esteem. Gloria was very instrumental in
leading the development and production for the
award winning Chinle Curriculum Center's
cultural research in Navajo language and culture
integration. The production center is the only
center existing today that continues to produce
one of kind and state of art culturally relevant
curricula. Ms. Grant has served on various
education boards and most recently on the
Executive Board of the National Indian Education
Association. She was appointed by four past
Navajo Nation President's to serve on the Navajo
Nation Women's Commission. She is currently the
Tsaile Elementary School Principal where for the
past three years she has lead a very pro-active
team to the status of a Performing Plus School!
Lori
Heilner
Santan Junior High
Chandler Unified School District
8th Grade Science
Lori was nominated by a colleague,
who states "Mrs. Heilner is extremely dependable
when it comes to planning activities for not only
her own classroom, but for the other classrooms as
well. Our students appreciate all of the hands-on
activities that she plans and we can always count on
her to get the supplies necessary for our labs. Her
students like her funny and caring nature. She is
not afraid to be goofy as long as it means that her
students are learning. Lori helps keep our
department running smoothly and the kids enjoy
having her as their teacher. Lori Heilner would be
a great teacher of the month." Lori is the academic
lead for the 8th grade science department, and is
responsible for implementing new state mandated
science standards.

Gooding, Ed.D.

Counselor
Dr. Gooding currently is one of
four counselors at the Phoenix Preparatory
Academy. His focus and responsibilities
are with the A.C.E. (Alternative Center of
Education) program. Dr. Gooding has been a
counselor with the district for ten years, this
is his 2nd year in the A.C.E. program. The
programs offers a dynamic non-traditional
alternative program for seventh and eighth grade
students. The program provides students
who are at-risk in one or more of the following:
Over aged, being suspended, behavioral issues,
poor academic standing, involved with juvenile
court system, pregnant and/or parenting. Tim's
commitment to improving the quality of services
for students, parents, staff and the community
has earned him numerous awards and citations, as
well as a demand for his speaking abilities and
participation in numerous programs including the
Midtown Optimist Club, and the AZ Supreme Court
Disciplinary Commission as one of the three public members. With his proactive, inspirational and motivational styles he has had a profound positive impact on the lives he touches.
Lisa
Crutchfield
Copper Ridge School
Scottsdale Unified School District
ESL Resource
Lisa Crutchfield has taught in the Scottsdale Unified School District since 1985. She has taught at Cocopah, Anasazi, Zuni, and Copper Ridge elementary schools. Her experience has covered all grades from first through fifth, although many years were in second grade. She is currently the ESL resource teacher at Copper Ridge.
With Lisa's experience she continues to find it a
"wonderful opportunity" to be able to help students learn. She was nominated for Educator of the Month by a former educator, who had previously taught with Lisa. "Teaching
non-English speakers to speak, read, and write in
English has been extremely rewarding."

Allen
Capitol School
Phoenix Elem. School District
Math Coach
Melissa is in her 19th year with the Phoenix
Elementary School District. This is her second
school year with Capitol School, coming from
Bethune School previously. Because of her
popularity with fellow educator, staff,
administrators, students, and parents we
received several nominations for MS Allen.
She has previously served as both a Resource
teacher, and an intermediate classroom teacher.
Melissa becomes involved in helping students and
schools. By example she is on the Capitol
School Site Council, Social Committee, as well
as the Leadership Team. Additionally she
works on numerous projects on the district
level. She is on the Phoenix Elementary
School District Marketing Committee. With her innovative
methods, and great attitude Melissa is changing
numerous lives for the better. Keep up the
great work Melissa!
Heather Palumbo
John F. Long Elementary School
Cartwright School District
Second Grade
Heather Palumbo is a
second grade teacher at John F. Long Elementary
School in the Cartwright School District.
Heather is a dedicated teacher who spends
countless hours preparing for each days lessons.
Her nominator states, "She goes above and beyond
for her students trying to make learning as
accessible as possible." Her students love
coming to school and look forward to seeing Mrs.
Palumbo everyday. Heather also teaches an
intervention program for students who are not at
grade level in reading. She spends
countless hours at school and home trying to
provide the best possible environment for the
students in her classroom. In additional
to her regular classroom activities, Heather
also teaches dance to students ranging in age
from pre-kindergarten to high school.
Heather is a dedicated professional who touches
many lives daily.
Wesley Delbridge (RD)

Food and Nut rition
Supervisor
Wesley Delbridge is the Food and Nutrition
Supervisor of the Chandler Unified School
District. They currently serve over 30,000
students. Wes is responsible for
supervising over 200 employees at 34 different
sites. He is a Registered Dietitian (RD)
and has been with the Chandler Unified District since 2003.
He creates the menu for district and makes sure
that it is not only healthy, but is also tasty.
He is involved in Nutrition Education, Human
Resource Management, and Budgeting. He
also creates special diet menus for students
with special dietary needs. Additionally
he is adjunct faculty at Chandler-Gilbert
Community College where he has taught food
science for the past two and a half years.
Amanda Esper
Copper Canyon Elementary School
Paradise Valley Unified School District
Second Grade
Amanda Esper is a second grade
teacher in the Paradise Valley School District.
After being there for only two years, she has
taken on a number of leadership positions. She
started a Junior Choir program because of her
belief that music is directly linked with
academic achievement. Her desire to build
confidence and a passion towards the Fine Arts
within her students, prompted her to also help
direct the sixth grade play this year. She
always enjoys finding new ways of implementing
technology in the classroom, and
advocated increasing computer literacy among her
students. Ms. Esper will be graduating from
Arizona State University in May with her
Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction.

Supervisor
Kim has been with
the Cartwright School District for over twenty
years. She is currently the Transportation
Coordinator where she keep the buses running
smoothly and on schedule throughout the
district.
Kim has spent much of her career with Cartwright
transporting special needs student. She
has found great satisfaction working with the
students very much. With her increase
responsibility as the Coordinator for the last
six years, Kim still drives occasionally as
needed. Her upbeat attitude and kind
spirit are appreciated by the many drivers she
works with on a daily basis.
Laura Lyman
Ishikawa Elementary School
Mesa Public Schools
Third Grade
Though the most
challenging students are often placed in her
classroom, third-grade teacher Laura Lyman helps
all of her students progress beyond expectations
at Ishikawa Elementary School in Mesa A maser
of differentiated instruction, Mrs. Lyman
expertly adapts to the individual needs of each
student and uses visuals, costumes, voices and
drawings to engage and actively involve her
students. Their test scores are consistently
high, with nearly all mastering the state's math
and reading standards. Mrs. Lyman became a
certified reading specialist to provide her
students with the most effective reading
instruction possible. She leads the school's
third-grade team and is the primary lead teacher
for the reading design team, a group of
in-school experts on reading acquisition. As a
culminating activity for a reading lesson on
the International Summer Olympics, Mrs. Lyman's
students hold an outdoor event call the
Third-Grade Olympics. Just one more way that
this outstanding educator is helping to turn
children into champions.
